Alta Mugello near Florence
|
The Mugello is the area that spreads from northern Florence to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The landscape is rich and varied, with beech, fir, oak and chestnut forest as well as vineyards and fields. The Medici and Lorraine families constructed splendid villas, castles and fortresses in the Mugello, among them the Palazzo dei Vicari in the town of Scarperia and the Castello Cafaggiolo. The town of Vicchio in Mugello is the birthplace of the painter Fra Angelico. |
